The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable

Average rating: Stars
Stars A fable for our times
We have now been using this book in our organization for the past two years. We started using it in our leadership training courses and expanded it this year into the team training classes we are holding for all of our corporate team members. We believe it is a great base to build on as everyone can identify with the characters in the book and see their own team - good or bad.
Because it is short and simply written, and even entertaining, even those employees with limited reading skills can read and understand the message. It allows us to use a common language and have people understand what the issue is with their team when it is not performing.
There is also a trainers guide that is quite helpful.

Stars Buy if for your whole team
I love to give this book to team members. As others have stated here, it gives a group a common vocabulary that is very applicable, practicle, and pragmatic. Not a bunch of lofty ideals, just the common sense of how people interact, written in an entertaining and (more importantly) memorable way.

Stars Team dynamics
As a leader who took on the challenge to transform the culture in a mid-size company, I had the difficult task of implementing changes that were unpopular and resulted in terminations of long-time employees. I experienced mistrust from my direct reports, so it became critical to focus on building trust and commitment. I got some excellent insights as a result of reading this book. So I recommend this book, and another, Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self. I ordered both of these books for my team, and implemented Optimal Thinking training. The results have exceeded my expectations.
